Exclusively for AlabamaGoods.com, this wonderful peacock sculpture was created by Tamara V. Shadinger, a Birmingham, Alabama artist. Rich in color, this piece is entirely hand built from slabs of clay. Once the vase has dried and has been fired to bisque, Tamara applies three coats of glaze containing hundreds of tiny crystals that burst into colorful explosions during the next firing. Finally, a mother of pearl overglaze, which produces an opalescent luster, is applied prior to a third firing. Each sculpture is unique, adding to the interest and value.
