Recycled Glass Wind Chimes

As an artist of recycled glass, Steve Smith of Lincoln, Alabama utilizes empty wine bottles to create a variety of fascinating works of art. As an artist Smith is committed to designing and creating a selection of pieces that look beautiful, feel good, and sound great. Recycling bottles from “trash to treasure”, and knowing people enjoy their purchase, is his primary motivation. To create these wind chimes, empty wine bottles are cut, melted, drilled, and fired for a glazing. All parts of the bottles are used. Bi-sections of necks and bodies, as well as bottoms create the circular forms. Flattened bottles are cut, shaped, and formed for other dimensional parts. Chimes are designed to catch the slightest breeze and create soft, sweet tones. The thickness of the recycled glass and UV treated twine assures a long lasting outdoor treasure. No molds or patterns are used, ensuring each piece is indeed one-of-a-kind.
